Ruth Zumwalt (1971 -2019) was the epitome of an educator. She spent 20 years in the classroom, with her focus primarily on teaching high school biology. She spent her last two years as Edmond Public School's Science Content Specialist. Anyone who ever met Ruth knew that she was first and foremost an educator and an avid champion of females in education. The scholarship is open to senior female students graduating from Edmond Public Schools and going into the field of education. Preference will be given to applicants with an interest in teaching science, math or STEM. The award is made in the amount of $500 freshman year.
