Arts in Schools

Attention art lovers!

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Edmond Public Schools Foundation and Fine Arts Institute of Edmondto help provide art programming in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms for all EPS elementary schools!

The EPS Foundation is providing funding for art supplies, while Fine Arts Institute of Edmond will provide the arts educators.  This program will be implemented in the classroom during the blended model of instruction, and during virtual learning, Fine Arts Institute of Edmond has an online curriculum in place!

The EPS Foundation's goal is to raise $15,000 for art supplies to be used this school year.

Just a few reasons Art in Schools is important:

  • Working in the arts helps learners to develop creative problem-solving skills.
  • Teaching through the arts can present difficult concepts visually, making them easier to understand.
  • Art instruction helps children with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness.
  • Visual arts teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work.
  • Arts experiences boost critical thinking, teaching students to take the time to be more careful and thorough in how they observe the world.
  • A report by Americans for the Arts states that young people who participate regularly in the arts are more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair, or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate.

We want to invite you to invest in our students through this Art in Schools program.  Should we exceed our goal, additional funding will be used to support this program next year or other arts programming.
